27th Annual Clambake
Could not have asked for better weather for
our 27th Annual Clambake on April 30th….perfect Spring weather, blue skies with
the absence of wind. All the faithful helpers were on scene early ... setting up
to welcome a modest group trickling in to socialize and reacquaint.
Nuno and Maria Joao da Cruz were quietly
busy frying Chilicotes as an extra surprise treat for everyone at 12:30pm;
followed by a delicious Macanese lunch prepared by none other than Dorothy
Oliveira. We enjoyed delicious Portuguese Chicken, outstanding Vaca Estufada,
complimented with a spring salad and rice. Tila Danenberg outdid herself with a
rich flan and Maria Roliz with mango pudding for dessert. During the course of
the meal, we relished some cabernet which got us into the mood to sing along
with Carlos da Costa and Ernie Sequeira who with his guitar strummed Oldies like
“Tiny Bubbles". All the while, Antonio “Toneco" Jorge da Silva with his
helpers were stirring up the long awaited CLAMS!! Piping hot, mouth-watering
version of “Ameijoas na Cataplana a Algarvia" was served with French bread.
Yummy sauce!! Enough for seconds.
The group, smaller this occasion
afforded more circulation and friendly chatter. By the happy grins... everyone
ENJOYED. A big
Thank you to all our faithful helpers … “Toneco" Jorge da Silva, Dorothy
Oliveira, Maria & Hunter Choi, Nuno & Maria Joao da Cruz, Chris da Roza, and
Tila Danenberg. We all look forward to our 28th Clambake…with recipe from yet
another region.
